5/18-5/22 Helping Hands

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend. I got to see my little sister graduate from Luther College! This last week, our theme was Helping Hands

We looked at this theme in many different ways. We did a lot of art projects that involved getting our hands dirty. We made a bouquet of flowers and an elephant from our hand prints.

We also spent some time coming up with a service project to help out those in need in our community. After a lot of discussion. We decided to help animals at the Humane Society by making posters to put up in the community encouraging people to adopt. We will be finalizing these this week.

As usual, the kids loved their regular activites such as building, Adventure Club lead by Amani, Battleship (which we got to play in the big space!),

We also said goodbye to Miss. Danae. This Sunday she left for Peru! She will be spending this summer working as a lead staff at Snail Lake Elementary School. After which she will go on to teach at Best Academy in St. Paul! We wished her the best with some cupcakes.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Danae!!

Another heads up, next week I am being sent to Davinci Academy in Blaine for the afternoons. The site director over there has her summer program starting up and they need someone to over see the program there during the last week. I will still be around in the morning and able to answer any questions you all might have in the next couple of weeks. Danielle will be running the program for that one week with the help of our new staff Samantha (she will be a lead staff this summer) and Chee.
Have a wonderful week!

5/11 - 5/15 Rainforest Life

Happy Monday Everyone,

This last week we learned all about the Rain Forest! We talked about the weather, animals and plants of the rain forest. We made Paper Bag Monkeys, Beaded Lizards and twisted snakes. On our limited rain free days we got outside and Ms. Danielle got  a little artsy! :)
We hope you are having a blast as we wind down the school year. Just three weeks left until summer!
                                             Until Next Time,
                                                         Nicole Becchetti

5/4-5/8 Creatures of the Abyss!!!

Hello Wonderful Families!

This week we learned all about Creatures of the Abyss! We learned some fun names of various deep sea creatures, made Shark Hats and watched Finding Nemo.
In addition to that we got to spend a lot of time outside due to the gorgeous weather. We even got the chance to play a game of soccer!

However, it wasn't always sunny and on those days we stayed inside and did some Just Dance! Here the kids are dancing to YMCA!

Lastly, we got to spend some time thanking those who put in so much time and hard work to make sure we get a great education! We made super hero cards for our teachers. The teachers absolutely loved it!

Things we are looking forward to this week:
- Paper bag monkeys
- Twisted Snakes
- Banana Sushi
- Rainforest Layers
and so much more!!

Until Next Time,
Nicole

Week of 4/20

Last week at Y-care we focused on recycling. We had videos, crafts, and discussions based on how we can positively impact our environment by reducing, reusing, and recycling.
